The Tony Awards 2026: Broadway's Biggest Night

The 79th Annual Tony Awards took place on June 7, 2026, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The ceremony honored the best productions and performances from the 2025–2026 Broadway season and brought together some of theater’s biggest stars for an evening of celebration. Hosted by singer Pink, the show opened with a lively performance featuring more than 170 Broadway performers. The opening number set an energetic tone for the night and highlighted the talent and creativity that make Broadway special.

One of the biggest winners of the evening was Schmigadoon!, which took home the Tony Award for Best Musical. The production also won awards for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical, making it one of the most successful shows of the night.

In the play categories, Liberation won Best Play. Written by Bess Wohl, the production explores themes of family, friendship, and women’s experiences across generations. Its win reflected the response it received from audiences and critics throughout the season.

The revival of Death of a Salesman was another major winner. The production earned Best Revival of a Play and several additional awards. The classic story by Arthur Miller continues to connect with audiences decades after it was first performed.

Several actors were recognized for their outstanding performances. John Lithgow won Best Leading Actor in a Play for his role in Giant, while Lesley Manville received Best Leading Actress in a Play for her performance in Oedipus. In the musical categories, Joshua Henry and Caissie Levy both won leading acting awards for their performances in Ragtime. Henry received the award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical, while Levy won Best Leading Actress in a Musical.

The ceremony also featured special performances celebrating Broadway milestones. Rachel Zegler honored the 50th anniversary of A Chorus Line, while members of the original cast of The Book of Mormon reunited to celebrate the show’s 15th anniversary. The evening also included a performance marking the 30th anniversary of Broadway’s revival of Chicago.
