Marvel Studios has officially found its next Black Panther. David Jonsson has been cast as Prince T’Challa II, the son of King T’Challa, in Black Panther 3. The character was first introduced as a young boy in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and the upcoming film will follow him as he grows into the mantle of the Black Panther.
Director Ryan Coogler is returning to helm the third installment, continuing the story of Wakanda while expanding the legacy of one of Marvel’s most iconic heroes. Letitia Wright is also set to reprise her role as Shuri, who became the Black Panther following the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Jonsson’s casting is a major milestone for the franchise. The British actor has earned praise for his performances in recent film and television projects, and fans are eager to see his take on the next generation of Wakanda’s protector.
Rather than replacing Chadwick Bosemans portrayal of TChalla, Black Panther 3 continues the characters legacy through his son. The film is expected to explore Prince TChalla II coming of age as he embraces the responsibilities of leadership and the Black Panther mantle.
Black Panther 3 is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 15, 2028, making it one of Marvel Studios most highly anticipated upcoming films.
